Mitte Juni 2022 hat die Galenus-Privatstiftung eine Kooperation mit dem PETRS Netzwerk (Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology Research Scientists) begonnen, das von der Tübinger Technologin JProf.Dipl.Ing. Dr. Denise Steiner im Sommer 2020 gegründet wurde, um den Gedankenaustausch zwischen den Postdocs in der Pharmazeutischen Technologie und Biopharmazie zu intensivieren und Ressourcen, beispielsweise technische Ausstattung, gemeinsam zu nutzen.

Der Gründungskongress des Netzwerks fand im August 2022 an der Technischen Universität Braunschweig statt. Zu diesem Anlass verfasste Frau Dr. Steiner, die auch Sprecherin des neugegründeten Netzwerks ist, folgenden Artikel…

First conference of the PETRS Network

The first conference of the PETRS “Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology Research Scientists” network of young scientists in the German-speaking countries, found in October 2020, took place in Braunschweig on August 18 and 19, 2022. Over the two days of the conference, the 15 participants from 13 different universities and research centers participated in various workshops and discussions. While the goal of the conference was to get to know each other, the first topic was an extended round of introductions. Afterwards, two current research topics were presented by participants and various cooperation possibilities were directly discussed. At the end of the day, there was the opportunity to visit the labs of the PVZ (Center of Pharmaceutical Engineering), which hosted the conference, and of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics before having a joint dinner in Braunschweig.
The next day started with a workshop on teaching methods as well as a discussion on best practices in the “Praktikum” Pharmaceutical Technology. This was followed by the last topic of the conference, which focused on the future of the PETRS network and future activities. The two days of the conference showed that there are many opportunities to build up new cooperations or to join forces and prepare a common review article on a hot topic.

Information on the PETRS Network:
In October 2020, a network of postdocs, postdoctoral researchers and junior professors from the fields of pharmaceutical technology and biopharmacy (as well as other disciplines in a related field) was founded in the German-speaking countries. The aim of the network is to get to know young colleagues and their research focus areas and methodological competencies, to establish and expand collaborations and to develop joint projects. This enables a fast and uncomplicated exchange between the members and allows e.g. access to complex measurement systems and methodological competences within the network.

Bereits zum zweiten Mal nach 2016 hat die Galenus-Privatstiftung die BioBarriers Konferenz in Saarbrücken unterstützt, in dem sie die Teilnahme von vier Gastreferenten(Galenus Guest Speakers) , allesamt erfolgreiche, junge Professoren aus Österreich, Deutschland, Israel und den USA, finanziell ermöglicht.
Die Stiftungsvorsitzende hatte am ersten Konferenztag zu Beginn der Vorträge Gelegenheit, einen kurzen Überblick zur Tätigkeit der Stiftung in den vergangenen 14 Jahren zu geben und dabei auch die aktuellen Veranstaltung zu erwähnen. Danach folgten ca. 250 Teilnehmer aus mehr als 20 verschiedenen Ländern  den Vorträgen der diesjährigen Galenus Guest Speakers:

• Prof. Dr. Katharina Ribbeck (Massachuesetts Institute of Technologie) ,
• Prof. Dr. Eva Roblegg (Universität Graz  und Lehrbeauftragte der Universität Wien) ,
• Prof. Dr. Josué Sznitman (Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa) ,
• Prof. Dr. Maike Windbergs (Universität Frankfurt a.M.).

Wir freuen uns auf die weitere Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Gastreferenten im Rahmen von Gastprofessuren und Workshops, die für die kommenden Jahre bereits geplant sind.

Das diesjährige Symposium der Pharmazeutischen Technologen der Universität von Florida zum Thema „New Developments in Clinical Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacology“, organisiert vom Global Gator Club unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Hartmut Derendorf,  wird am 17. Juni 2017 an der Universität Düsseldorf stattfinden. Mit der Wahl des Veranstaltungsortes wird nicht zuletzt an die langjährige und intensive Verbindung beider Universitätsinstitute sowohl in der Ausbildung Pharmazeutischer Technologen als auch in der Forschung erinnert. So war Prof. em. Dr. Bernhard C. Lippold vor Beginn seiner Tätigkeit als Institutsleiter (1978-2004)   in der Pharmazeutischen Technologie und Biopharmazie  der Universität Düsseldorf selbst  Postdoktorand und Habilitand an der University of  Florida. Das dortige Pharmazeutisch-technologische  Institut, als „Beehive“(Bienenkorb) weltweit in Expertenkreisen bekannt, stand  damals unter der Leitung des renommierten Technologen Prof. Dr. E.R. Garrett. Prof.em. Lippold seinerseits ist seit dem Jahr  2004 als wissenschaftlicher Beirat für die Galenus-Privatstiftung tätig.     

Die Galenus-Privatstiftung unterstützt die Durchführung der Konferenz „Biobarriers 2016“. Folgende Referenten werden als Galenus Guest Speakers auf der Veranstaltung Vorträge halten:

• Prof. Dr. Gerrit Borchard (Universität Genf, CH),
